PM Modi compliments NC for its victory in J & K polls

New Delhi, October 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) for their impressive performance in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.

 According to trends from the Election Commission of India (ECI), the National Conference, in alliance with the Congress, is on track to form the government, having secured a majority with 49 out of 90 seats. The National Conference won 42 seats, Congress secured 6, and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) claimed.

 PM Modi, while acknowledging the BJP's strong presence in the elections with 29 seats, expressed pride in the party’s efforts and thanked voters for their trust. He praised the hardworking efforts of BJP party workers in Jammu and Kashmir. The People's Democratic Party (PDP) won three seats, while seven independents and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), making its debut with one seat, were also victorious.

 Earlier, Modi had criticized the regional dynastic politics of J-K, blaming parties like Congress, National Conference, and PDP for corruption and the region's struggles. He described the election as a contest between these political dynasties and the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
