Berhampur, Oct 12: In a significant development in the murder case of BJP leader and advocate Pitabas Panda, Berhampur police in Odisha on Sunday took three people, including a well-known corporator, into custody for questioning.
However, authorities have not confirmed the person’s identity or any direct involvement in the crime.
Meanwhile, senior police officials are reviewing CCTV footage from multiple locations across the city to track movements related to the case. In the past two days, three police teams carried out raids in the areas under Khallikote, Kabisuryanagar, Polasara, and Patpur police stations.
Preliminary investigations have reportedly provided important leads. According to sources, one person was brought in from the outskirts of Berhampur, another from Khallikote, and a known criminal is also being questioned by the police. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to establish any connections between the suspects and the murder.
Few days back, Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek M stated that around 60-70 people have been questioned so far in connection with the case. Despite continuous efforts, the main accused has not yet been arrested, keeping the investigation under close scrutiny.
It is worth noting that Pitabas Panda was murdered on October 6 when unknown attackers shot him outside his home in Berhampur. The police have been working diligently to identify the suspects and uncover the motive behind the brutal killing.
