Bhubaneswar, April 3: Reckless campaign for Pipili by-election may come as a super-spreader of Corona, anticipate denizens. The Pipili by-election is scheduled on April 17.Major political parties including Congress, BJD and BJP have fielded candidates in a bid to capture the Pipili assembly seat. Meanwhile, all candidates filed their nominations along with crowd of their supporters forgetting corona guidelines that prevailed throughout the year. Now poll campaign is going on as usual as if it has no effect on Covid-19 at all. Party officials, leaders and workers are seen rushing towards Pipili area. Use of mask, social distancing or hand sanitizing is hardly ensured in the mass campaign carried out by the political people. On the other hand, the Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) imposed by the Election Commission and the Health department is not carried out across the Pipili constituency. Meeting, partying and public gathering is going on with ease without any adherence to the Covid-19 strictures. Pipili campaign war is controlled from Bhubaneswar and Puri. As a result, mass gathering of political leaders, workers and their aide are seen in Puri and Bhubaneswar. It is considered to be a serious threat for the capital city and Puri pilgrim city If the threat is not taken care of, it will be the most favourable way for Covid-19 to spread all over the state, said a health care expert.
