Pipili, Sep 30: An election duty officer fell ill at a booth in Pipili constituency in Puri district today.
According to available information, the poll officer, identified as Ramachandra suddenly fell ill while voting was undergoing at the booth. Soon a team of nearby government hospital rushed to the polling station and provided him primary treatment.
Later, he was shifted to Delanga Community Health Centre (CHC). However, the voting process has not been disrupted due to this.
As per reports, at least 7.8 per cent voting was recorded till 9 am.
All the necessary facilities and security arrangements have been made to ensure free and fair polling. The Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) is being used along with Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) at all Polling Stations with a view to enhancing the transparency of the election process.
