Koraput, May 7: In a bizarre incident, a man has lodged a complaint of pick-pocketing against his drug addict son with the police with the hope that he would stop consuming drugs after he is lodged in the jail. The incident has taken place at Jeypore town in Odisha’s Koraput district on Saturday. One Mahmud Isaac, a senior citizen, has lodged the complaint against his only son Mahmud Irfan in Jeypore town police. According to his father, Irfan had been stealing money from home to consume drugs. He did not reform himself despite frequent warnings. His father and family members tried their best through continuous counselling to correct his addiction, however all the efforts went in vain. Meanwhile, Irfan pick-pocketed Rs 5000 from his father, what he had saved for emergency use. Finding no way out to save his only son from the clutch of drug, Isacc lodged a complaint with the Jeypore police in this connection. The police arrested Irfan today and sent him to the Judicial custody. Responding to media personnel, Issac said, “I have applied every method to bring him on the right path. However, he failed to correct himself. That's why I was keen to put him behind the bars”. “Being the only son who is dearer to my heart, I never want to see him in this condition. I have sent him to jail in order to reform him inside”,Issac added.
