Puri, Feb 13: Raising question mark on frisking system of police at the four gates of the Jagannath Temple here, a photo showing inner premises of Shree Jagannath 12th century shrine has gone viral on social media.
An Instagram profile namely ‘indian.temples’ has shared the photo.
Earlier, artist Shalini Passi had shared the same photo on her verified Id on February 2.
Mobile phone, camera are prohibited in the 12th century shrine.
According to Section 30-A (4-C) of the Jagannath Temple Act, 1953, devotees cannot take their cameras into the shrine. The violation of the Act is a punishable offence and attracts imprisonment up to two months and a fine of Rs 1,000.
A servitor was suspended by Patara Nijog, an association of servitors, for clicking photographs inside the shrine and putting them up on social media in June 2020.
