Bhubaneswar, Aug 16: Peak flow of the flood water in the Mahanadi will continue up to 3 AM Wednesday, said Special Relief Commissioner, Pradip Jena. The water level at the Mundali barrage in Cuttack is supposed to mark the maximum within the next 8-9 hours. However, the peak flow will be released into the Bay of Bengal by 6-9 PM on Wednesday. Interacting with the media personnel on the damage caused by the flood, Jena said that over two lakh of people have been affected due to it. As many as 237 villages and 49 blocks have been cut off from the rest of the world. At least 1366 villages of the blocks have been directly affected by the flood water. However, evacuation process is underway and as many as 90 free kitchens have been arranged for the affected people sheltered in the cyclone centers. At least 707 houses have been reportedly washed away and damaged due to the flood water, said Jena.
