Patnagarh, June 4: In a significant breakthrough, Patnagarh Police in Odisha's Bolangir district have arrested a man allegedly involved in a series of bicycle thefts and recovered 25 stolen bicycles, which have been returned to their rightful owners.
According to police sources, several complaints regarding bicycle thefts had been reported at Patnagarh Police Station over the past few months. Acting on the rising number of cases, a special team was formed under the supervision of Patnagarh SDPO Sadananda Pujari and led by IIC Haribandhu Gadtia.
Following an extensive investigation and intelligence gathering from multiple sources, the police arrested Sunil Bag of Brahmapura under the Patnagarh police limits. During the course of the investigation, officers traced and seized 25 bicycles that had allegedly been sold at different locations after being stolen.
The recovered bicycles were subsequently handed over to their respective owners, bringing relief to several victims who had lost their means of daily transportation.
The police action coincided with World Bicycle Day, adding symbolic significance to the recovery drive. The initiative has drawn appreciation from local residents and intellectuals, who praised the efforts of the Patnagarh Police in curbing theft and ensuring the return of stolen property.
Expressing their gratitude, the bicycle owners thanked the police for their prompt action and successful recovery of the stolen bicycles.
