Patna, Mar 24: Residents of Dabarchua village under Patna block of Keonjhar district are facing drinking water crisis due to the advent of summer. The district administration is yet to hold any meeting to chalk out strategies to tackle the drinking water crunch.
According to sources, two hamlets of the village face drinking water shortage in the summer. Over hundreds of people reside in the village. Their foremost problem is non-availability of drinking water.
Villagers alleged that though the panchayat has tube-wells, it has failed to provide safe drinking water. Most of the tube-wells ooze out saline water.
Residents alleged that though they have been demanding installation of a pressure motor and replacement of old tube-wells, authorities have turned a deaf ear to their problems. They threatened to take to the streets if no step is taken to find a permanent solution to the water crisis.
The village has been facing drinking water scarcity for years. But their woes are yet to be solved, said a local resident.
