Bolangir: Punjilal Meher, accused in the sensational Patnagarh wedding gift blast case, who allegedly tried to escape from Patnagarh Sub-Jail last month, was shifted to Bolangir jail. However, after reaching at Bolangir jail Meher told reporters that the allegation of escape involving him from Patnagarh Sub-Jail was false. Saying that footages of CCTVs installed in the jail should be examined, Meher said hinted at massive corruption at the Patnagarh Sub-Jail. “Alleging of an attempt to escape from jail involving me is not true. Footages of CCTV cameras should be examined,” said the accused. It was alleged that Meher along with six other prisoners reached near the gate of the Patnagarh Sub-Jail this morning with an intention of fleeing the place on January 24. Notably, Meher was arrested on April 25, last year by the Crime Branch. On January 31, Crime Branch had filed charge sheet against Meher, an English lecturer at Jyoti Vikas College. It is alleged that Meher had sent the parcel bomb to the house of Sanjukta Sahu, the principal of Jyoti Vikash College, to eliminate her and the family members to take revenge as he was not made the principal of the college. However, Sahu's son Soumya Sekhar, who was married four days ago, and her mother-in-law Jemamani, died in the blast.
