Paralakhemundi, Oct 12: Family members of the deceased Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra are dissatisfied over the Crime Branch’s investigation into his mystery-shrouded death. Soumya’s father Abhiram Mohapatra has expressed discontent on the investigation report made public by the investigating agency on October 8. Interacting with media, after the Crime Branch gave a clean chit to Gajapati DFO, Sangram Keshari Behera, and Manmath Kumbh, Mohapatra said that the Crime Branch has not rightly investigated the matter. The investigating agency has done nothing more than the Gajapati police, he said. Similarly, he has questioned the weak sections of charges against Soumya’s wife Bidyabharati and booking her under Section 304(A) and 285 of CrPC, alleging acute intentional negligence only. At the same time, Bidyabharati has been summoned under Section 41(A) to face trials, which deserves less than 7-year imprisonment. The final charge sheet of the case clearly indicates that the Crime Branch has concluded the investigation of the case basing on the initial feedbacks of the Gajapati police. “It is why we have filed a petition case in the Orissa High Court and prayed for a CBI investigation into the matter”, said Mohapatra.
