Panchayat polling in Kotia clicks success: Turnout clocks 70 percent

Koraput, Feb 18: Panchayat polling in Kotia group of villages in Odisha’s Koraput district, held on Friday has clicked an all-time success. The turnout of voters in the three-tier rural body election, despite the barriers of Andhra Pradesh administration, has crossed 70 percent, according to the database of the State Election Commission. Sources said the polling for the Panchayat election in the Kotia group of villages was conducted in as many as 13 booths under the Pottangi block limit in the morning. The polling teams started polling in the polling booths at 7 AM. Following this, a better response from the common voters was seen in the morning hours. However, people thronged on queues near noon. As a result, all the booths were overcrowded with the voters till the voting hours ended at 1 PM. According to the SEC officials, Polling in the Kotia group of villages was almost peaceful, free, and fair. No incidents of violence and disruption from the Andhra Pradesh agents were reported during the polling process.
