Bhubaneswar, Feb 15: More than 21,000 Anganwadi centers in Odisha lack their own buildings, as revealed by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida in the Assembly.
Responding to a written query from BJD MLA Arvind Mohapatra about the infrastructure development of Anganwadi centers in the state, the Women & Child Development Minister shared key details.
Out of the 74,192 Anganwadi centers in Odisha, 52,806 have their own buildings, 26,455 have boundary walls, and 42,736 are connected to electricity. However, 21,386 centers do not have their own buildings, 31,456 lack electricity, and 47,737 have no boundary walls.
To address these infrastructure gaps, the state government is allocating funds in phases to local collectors to ensure power supply to Anganwadi centers. However, the government currently has no plans for constructing boundary walls around these centers.
The government is continuing to implement phased improvements for the overall infrastructure of Anganwadi centers, the Minister said.
