Jajpur, Nov 10: Three pockets of biscuits in a day and Rs 500 per month, 75-year-old man has been sheltered in school verandah after his sons and daughter-in-laws ousted him from his house.

Such a shocking incident came to fore from Odisha’s Jajpur district on Tuesday.

One Purna Chandra Biswal of Baniagadia village under Korai block of the district is living on the school verandah since five months after his children abandoned him from his own house. Biswal, a father of four is now homeless and hapless who struggles to get a square meal everyday.

With tearing eyes, Biswal said, “To my misfortune, I have been forced to live such a miserable life due to infighting between our two sons.

Earlier, his two sons used to provide him foods. However, the elder one stopped feeding his father. Following this, his younger son also denied giving him food.

“Getting no option out, I have made this verandah my ultimate destination. Thanks to the neighbours, who out of pity offer a few packets of biscuit, it keeps me alive”, he added shockingly.

“After death of Biswal’s wife, his sons started negating him. We asked them to give food to their father, but they didn’t listen,” said fellow villagers.

In India, where parents are treated as God, such inhumane act of Biswal’s two sons has raised concern.
