Bhubaneswar, Sept 30: The Odisha Secondary School Teacher Eligibility Test (OSSTET) will be conducted across the state on Wednesday, with 59,353 candidates scheduled to appear for the examination.
The test, conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha, will be held from 9 am to 11.30 am. Candidates have been instructed to reach their respective examination centres by 7.45 am.
As many as 261 examination centres across 30 districts have been selected for the test. The Board has made elaborate security arrangements at all centres, including the installation of CCTV cameras to monitor the examination process.
According to the Board, the question papers and OMR sheets have been delivered to all examination centres under tight security and kept in digital lockers with police assistance.
The Board has also reviewed the arrangements with district administrations, police authorities and District Education Officers (DEOs) to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination.
A command-and-control room has been set up at the Board's office to monitor the examination centres through CCTV cameras. Officials stationed at the control room will be able to monitor the centres and detect any instances of malpractice or other irregularities during the examination, the authorities said.
Board Dismisses Rumours of OSSTET Cancellation
Meanwhile, rumours claiming that the OSSTET had been cancelled circulated widely on social media throughout the day, leaving many candidates confused and anxious after months of preparation.
Board President Srikant Tarai clarified that the reports were false and baseless. He said district-level officials, including DEOs, had been informed about the misinformation.
The Board president also advised candidates to rely only on the official Board website for accurate information regarding the examination.
Candidates have demanded action against those spreading false information and rumours ahead of the examination, saying such misinformation has caused unnecessary confusion among aspirants.
