Cuttack, Oct 25: The Orissa High Court on Monday quashed a petition seeking permission to sell and use crackers during the upcoming Diwali. All Odisha Fire Works Dealers Association had moved the High Court against the state government order, which has prohibited the sale and use of firecrackers during the festive season. The court had rejected the petition as the association is not a registered organization. The court, however, has allowed filing a fresh plea, said sources. "With a view to protecting the health of general public and to curb the spread of infection, sale and use of firecrackers shall remain prohibited during this festive month," reads the state government order issued on September 30.
