<strong>Orissa HC Bar Association opposes establishment of permanent benches</strong>

Cuttack, May 19: The Orissa High Court Bar association has opposed the establishment of permanent benches in the western and southern part of the state. The bar has passed a resolution in favour of the bar’s decision on Thursday. In a resolution passed in the general body meeting, the association decided to form an action committee to prepare a resentment representation that will be submitted to Chief justice S Muralidhar urging him not to give his consent for the new development. Kali Prasanna Mishra, The President of Orissa High Court Bar Association said the members discussed the proposal of Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik urging him to obtain the Orissa High court nod for setting up the high court benches in the western and southern Odisha. Rijiju, in his letter communicated to CMO last month, sought the consent of Patnaik in consultations with the Orissa High Court Chief justice for essential infrastructure and logistics. Worth  mentioning,  the people of the western Odisha and Southern Odisha has been demanding for permanent benches of the High Court for their convenience since a couple of years which is lingering due to the dispute.
