Opposition concern over deteriorating law & order, govt says situation normal

Bhubaneswar, Nov 24: The opposition today expressed concern over deteriorating law & order situation in the state. On the other hand, the government claimed that the situation has remained peaceful and under control. Participating in the debate over an adjournment motion on law & order situation, opposition chief whip Mohan Charan Majhi cited the instance of Puri and Biramitrapur custodial deaths and demanded inquiry by a sitting High Court judge. Supporting the issue, Congress MLA Santosh Singh Saluja and other opposition members expressed concern over rising cases of rape and murder in the state. Fire-brand Congress legislator Tara Prasad Bahinipati demanded resignation of the minister of state for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra. However, replying to the debate on the adjournment motion, minister of state for Home, Mishra claimed that the law & order situation in the state has not deteriorated at all. It has remained peaceful and under control on all fronts. Meanwhile, the Cuttack finance firm loot case has been tracked and the recovery of loot money is under process, the minister said.
