Bhubaneswar, August 9: Under the statewide enforcement drive ‘Operation Garuda’ launched on August 1, 2025, Odisha Police have made major seizures and arrests to curb crime, illegal trade, and anti-social activities. Led by district SPs and supervised by ADG (Law & Order) Sanjay Kumar, the campaign will continue till August 14.
Key achievements include:
- 3,189 NBWs executed; 298 other cases disposed.
- 51 firearms, 95 rounds of ammunition, and ₹1.45 lakh seized.
- 890 excise cases with 17,000+ litres of illicit liquor confiscated.
- 888 kg ganja, 68.57 g brown sugar, and ₹63,750 seized in NDPS cases.
- 11 gambling cases yielding ₹2.79 lakh.
- 115 drunken driving cases with vehicles seized.
- 129 criminals arrested.
District highlights:
- Ganjam: 309 NBWs, 10 firearms seized, 13 arrests.
- Rourkela: 10 firearms, ₹1.48 lakh from gambling, 17 arrests.
- Kandhamal: 535 kg ganja seized, 15 arrests.
- Keonjhar: Highest excise haul—1,509 litres of illicit liquor.
