On pretext of giving her lift, lecturer rapes student

Puri, Mar 6: A women’s college student has levelled rape allegations against a lecturer in Puri district, police said on Sunday. She has alleged that a political science lecturer of her college raped her taking to a secluded place after offering a lift. According to the complaint lodged at Balanga police station, the accused lecturer offered her a lift to her house after completion of her classes on Thursday. Later, he took the girl to a secluded place on the canal bank and raped her. After returning back home, the girl fell ill. She narrated the ordeal before her family members following which she was admitted to the local hospital and subsequently a complaint was lodged before police. Acting on the complaint, police conducted her medical examination and recorded her statement at Nimapada court. The accused lecturer has absconded and efforts are on to arrest him, said police.
