Bhubaneswar, Aug 15: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik unfurled the National Flag on Monday, on the occasion of 76th Independence Day at the Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar.
Addressing the occasion, Patnaik extended his greetings and wishes to the people of the state and paid tributes to the freedom fighters, martyrs, and Covid warriors for their sacrifices and contributions.
“A new era of transformation has started in Odisha today. Odisha’s success is paving the way for others. Becoming a food surplus state from a food deficit state, creating a model for the world in disaster management, creating an identity as a sports hub, and empowering 70 lakh women are the symbols of Odisha’s victory,” said Patnaik.
“As Indians, this is a moment of glory and pride for all of us. In these 75 yrs, Odisha has shown the way how to overcome the challenges. Odisha has become major sports hub of the country. It has also set an example on disaster management preparedness,” said Patnaik.
“Our focus is quality education for all. In these 75 yrs, Odisha has seen growth in agriculture, health and education sector. Nearly 3000 foundations have been laid for rural infra projects. Around 70 lakh women have been empowered through Self Help Groups (SHGs) in Odisha, he added.
“India has achieved many milestones in the last 75 years. Today, the country can compete with leading countries in various fields like agriculture, education, health, science and technology, industry, research, Patnaik said.
“Odisha is also keeping its pace at par with the development of the country. The state has shown the way to the country by achieving many landmarks in the last 75 years,” Patnaik added.
Patnaik informed that on the occasion of 75 years of Independence, the State Government is installing 3000 foundation stones for various infrastructure projects in rural areas of 30 districts of the state and steps are being taken to fill more than 70 thousand entry-level posts in various departments.
