Bhubaneswar, May 8: In a moment of immense pride for Odisha and the nation, Nibedita Sahoo secured the gold medal in the Senior Traditional category at the 2nd Asian Yogasana Sports Championship.
The event took place from April 25 to 27, 2025, at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi, attracting athletes from 21 Asian countries.
Representing India, Sahoo’s outstanding performance stood out among a strong field of competitors, earning her top honours and reinforcing her position as one of the leading Yogasana athletes in the country.
A postgraduate in Yoga from the Utkal University of Culture and a dedicated practitioner of Isha Yoga, she has previously clinched gold medals at district, state, and national levels.
Her international triumph is a testament to her consistent dedication and passion for the discipline. Organised by Yogasana Bharat, the championship witnessed participation from over 170 athletes. India emerged as the frontrunner, topping the medal tally with an impressive 83 gold medals.
Sahoo’s achievement not only brings glory to her home state of Odisha but also contributes significantly to India’s rising stature in Yogasana as a recognised competitive sport on the international platform.
