Puri, Aug 22: In a gruesome incident, a youth was allegedly stabbed to death by his friend in Baliapanda locality of Odisha’s Puri district.
The deceased has been identified as Rajesh and he was found murdered near Hotel Sterling Mangala under Baliapanda police limits in Puri.
According to police, the murder might have stemmed from a past conflict between Rajesh and his friend. Prior to the Rath Yatra, Rajesh’s friend had taken him to Kolkata for work, where a dispute over unpaid dues erupted. Rajesh had been pressing for the money owed to him, which eventually led to a heated argument between the two.
Meanwhile, Baliapanda police have have seized Rajesh’s body and sent it for post-mortem.
A murder case has been filed, and an investigation is underway to determine whether Rajesh's friend committed the crime alone or if others were involved, said the police.
