The deceased has been identified as Saroj Sahu, son of Radha Mohan Sahu.
According to fire department sources, the fire broke out at around 4 AM when Saroj was alone at home. Locals reported the blaze after noticing smoke and flames coming from his house.
Upon getting the information, police along with fire personnel reached the spot around 4:30 AM. The fire brigade managed to douse the flames and broke open the door to rescue Saroj. Unfortunately, he had already died due to severe burns and suffocation by then.
Prima facie suggests that Saroj had an argument with his wife the previous day, after which she left the house along with their child. He was alone when the fire broke out.
A case has been registered and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the fire and the circumstances leading to Saroj's death, said the police.
