Police are currently searching for his friends, who are also suspected to be involved.
According to police, the incident occurred on August 2, when the victim was on her way home from tuition. Her boyfriend reportedly lured her to a nearby jungle, where he was joined by two to four of his friends. The group then allegedly attempted to rape the girl, but she managed to escape and return home.
A formal complaint was filed by the victim's family on August 4 at the Udala police station. The prime suspect was arrested on Friday, while his friends remain at large.
The police are actively searching for the other individuals believed to be involved in the case.
