Angul, July 4: Nalco Nagar police in Odisha’s Angul arrested a youth for allegedly blackmailing his ex-girlfriend by threatening to share intimate photos and videos from their past relationship on social media.
He also allegedly assaulted the girl and demanded Rs 50,000 from her following the end of their relationship.
According to police, the accused, a 19-year-old boy, was in a relationship with the girl. During that time, he allegedly took private photos and videos of her without her permission.
Later, their relationship ended, and the girl moved on. She started working at the Nalco Smelter Plant as an apprentice and was living in a rented house in Kulad village. The boy then reportedly forced his way into her home, physically attacked her, and tried to make her get back together with him.
He allegedly threatened to leak their private photos and videos online and demanded ₹50,000 from her. The woman then went to the Nalco Nagar police and filed a complaint.
Based on her complaint, the police started an investigation and traced the accused to Hirakud, where he was arrested.
The accused is currently being interrogated and will be produced in court, said the police.
