Bhubaneswar, June 3: A 24-year-old youth with severe Covid-19 infection was today airlifted from Bhubaneswar airport through a green corridor. The youth identified as Amrit Pradhan undergoing treatment at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar will be shifted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai for further treatment.  Pradhan was admitted to AIIMS since May 2 after he tested positive for Covid-19. He was later put on ventilator support on May 12. His family members said that severe Covid infection has caused pneumonia, septicemia and a major fungal infection in addition to many other complications. “Doctors have suggested that getting him an ECMO (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) support is the only course of action left with a near-certain lung transplant as the next step. So he has been airlifted today to Chennai,” said one of his relatives.
