Odisha won 4 medals in National Senior Athletics meet

Bhubaneswar: A 23-member athletic squad of Odisha bagged two gold with New Meet Record, a silver and a bronze medals and a total of four medals in the 64th National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships, which concluded at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium Chennai on Sunday.

Tamil Nadu and Haryana emerged overall champion and runners-up with 195 and121 points respectively in the 64th edition of national meet.

Tamilnadu 400m sprinter Vishal TK and women 3000m steeplechase runner Ankita bagged best men and women athletes respectively with 1172 and 1132 points respectively. 

Similarly, Tamilnadu men and women won the team champion trophies with 101 and 90 points respectively. 

For Odisha Animesh Kujur won a gold medal in men’s 200m race clocking 20.63 sec with  new meet record. He rewrote his past timing of 20.65 sec. Another gold medal came to Odisha in the 4X100m men’s relay with a new meet record timing of 39.52 sec. The relay team athletes are Sarun Payasingh, Animesh Kujur, Lalu Prasad Bhoi and Amiya Kumar Mallick. 

However, Divya Shandilya won a silver medal in the Women’s Hammer Throw with a throw of 59.58m and Swadhin Kumar Majhi won a bronze medal in the men's high jump with a 2.18m jump.
