Cuttack, Sept 1: In a tragic incident, a woman reportedly was swept away while bathing in the Mahanadi River in Odisha's Cuttack district and went missing on Monday.

The woman, identified as Pinky Swain, drowned in the swollen river while taking a bath at Damapada in Banki early this morning.

According to reports, Pinky, along with a few other women, had gone to Ratagada ghat on the Mahanadi for idol immersion after 'Khudurukuni Osa'—an annual festival observed by unmarried girls and women during the Bhadra month for the well-being of their brothers and families.
