Odisha Wheelchair Rugby team bags National Titles

Bhubaneswar: Odisha once again proved its dominance in Para Sports as the defending champion Odisha team clinched the champion title at the 7th National Wheelchair Rugby Championship 2025, held at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Training Centre for Disability Sports, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh on Sunday.

In a thrilling final, Odisha defeated Rajasthan 16–11 to retain their national crown and secure back-to-back victories. Last year, the team had lifted the title by defeating Kerala in the final of the 6th National Wheelchair Rugby Championship 2024.

Adding to this proud achievement, three Odisha players, Goutam Singh, Sudhir Malik, and Murli Benian have been selected for the upcoming international wheelchair Rugby camp, where they will represent India and train at the global level.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sunil Pradhan, Secretary, Para Sports Association of Odisha and Treasurer, Paralympic Committee of India, congratulated the team and said:

“Our players have once again brought glory to Odisha through their determination, teamwork, and commitment. The back-to-back national titles and international selections are a reflection of Odisha’s growing leadership in Para Sports.”
