Bhubaneswar, May 5: Vigilance sleuths have traced properties worth Rs 7.21 crore of Jagannath Rout, Livestock Inspector.

Vigilance sleuths on Thursday have conducted raids at nine locations including the office of Rout on allegations of acquisition of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income.

Rout was found in possession of assets worth Rs 7.21 crore including bank and insurance deposits worth over Rs 39.48 lakh.

“We have found 91 Plots including 81 plots in prime area of Bhubaneswar and 10 plots in Cuttack district. The Registered Sale Deed (RSD) value comes to over Rs 3.33 crore. However, the actual value is likely to be much higher. Undervaluation of the plots during registration is suspected,” said an official.

The investigating agency has also traced three flats, one market complex and gold, diamond, silver ornaments worth Rs 20.60 lakh.

Vigilance sleuths said that the search process is still continuing. “The simultaneous searches were conducted on the basis of a court warrant and further investigation in the case is continuing. We are ascertaining the actual income of the officials,” said a vigilance official.  He also said that the income of the official would be calculated to ascertain the gap between the cost of assets and actual income.
