Bhubaneswar, Dec 4: Vigilance sleuths have traced properties worth Rs 2.31 crore of Jayant Kumar Das, Assistant Civil Supplies Officer, Nayagarh. Vigilance sleuths on Saturday have conducted raids at five places including the office of Das on allegations of acquisition of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income. Das was found in possession of assets worth Rs 2.31 crore including one four-storied building, two double-storied buildings, nine plots including one in Bhubaneswar, bank and postal deposits over Rs 9.3 lakh, insurance deposits over Rs 8.64 lakh, gold and silver ornaments worth over Rs 4.92 lakh and cash of Rs 2.74 lakh. Vigilance sleuths said that the search process is still continuing. “The simultaneous searches were conducted on the basis of a court warrant and further investigation in the case is continuing. We are ascertaining the actual income of the officials,” said a vigilance official. He also said that the income of the official would be calculated to ascertain the gap between the cost of assets and actual income.
