Odisha Vigilance arrests Junior Assistant at BEO office for accepting bribe

Bhubaneswar, Nov 13: The Odisha Vigilance officials have arrested a Junior Assistant at the office of Block Education Officer (BEO), Khordha while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000.
The accused has been identified as Pradipta Kumar Sahoo.
Sources said, Sahoo, a Junior Assistant (in charge of Accounts) at the BEO office in Khordha, was arrested by the Odisha Vigilance for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 6,000. The bribe was taken from a complainant in exchange for facilitating the release of a bill for differential pay, which would benefit his sister, a retired primary school teacher, in relation to her incremental benefits, according to a press release from Vigilance.
The full bribe amount has been recovered from the possession of the accused, Sri Pradipta Kumar Sahoo.
After the trap, Vigilance teams initiated search operations at one of Sahoo's locations as part of a Disproportionate Assets (DA) investigation.
Further investigation is underway.
