Bhubaneswar, Oct 6: Odisha Vigilance has arrested Arabinda Mohanty, Executive Engineer (EE), R&B Sub-Division, Betanati in Mayurbhanj district in connection with a disproportionate assets case.
Mohanty is scheduled to be forwarded to the Court of the Vigilance Special Judge, Baripada on Tuesday.
During searches conducted at properties linked to Mohanty, the Vigilance authorities detected disproportionate assets, including two multi-storeyed buildings, a five-acre farmhouse, 23 high-value plots, approximately 300 grams of gold, cash amounting to ₹10,57,500, bank deposits of ₹69.69 lakh, and one four-wheeler, among other assets.
Of the total cash recovered, ₹2.50 lakh was unearthed during a search of his residential premises at Balianta in Bhubaneswar, taking the total cash seizure to ₹10,57,500.
According to the Vigilance department, Mohanty could not satisfactorily explain the possession of the assets found during the searches.
In connection with the case, a case has been registered against Mohanty under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018.
