Bhubaneswar, June 10: The Urban Livelihood Mission (ULM) aims to set up as many as 18,000 rainwater harvest projects under 114 Urban Bodies in this fiscal. Self Help Groups of Mission Shakti will execute these projects within their jurisdiction employing the urban based labourers. A budget of almost Rs.70 crore has been allocated for the livelihood based project. The ULM authorities have finalized sites for as many 13,060 projects so far while the detail project reports (DPR) for around 12,996 projects have been chalked out for quick execution. On the other hand, a state level task force in the Chair of the Principal Secretary to Housing & Urban Development Department has been formed to coordinate the authorities of the Urban Bodies with the Mission Shakti. Notably, the ULM has taken up the initiative in order to provide guaranteed income to the urban dwelling wagers at the face of Corona pandemic. At the same time, the projects will check depletion of ground water and regulate devastating flood situation.
