Jajpur, June 10: In a tragic incident, at least two persons were killed and another sustained critical injuries after the car they were travelling in crashed into a tree in Kaliapani area of Odisha’s Jajpur district late last night.
The deceased persons have been identified as Biswanath Mahanta of Kaduabandi village and Sanjay Kumar Mahanta of Mahulkhal village.
As per reports, the mishap took place near Mahulkhal village under Kaliapani police limits in the district when five youths were returning from Rasola in an Ertiga. The driver of the car lost control over the wheels on a sharp bend near Mahulkhal and crashed into a tree before plunging off the road.
Two of the occupants died on the spot, while another was critically injured and has been admitted to Tata Steel Medica Hospital in Kalinganagar for treatment.
Upon getting the information, Kaliapani police arrived at the scene and recovered the bodies. Subsequently, they were sent for post-mortem.
Further investigation into the incident is underway.
