Bhubaneswar, Jan 29: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today announced plans to establish an industrial park exclusively for women entrepreneurs in the state.
Speaking at the plenary session on women’s entrepreneurship, part of the second day of the 'Utkarsh Odisha, Make in Odisha Conclave 2025,' Majhi also revealed that a special cell for women entrepreneurs would be set up at the Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation of Odisha Limited (IPICOL).
"I have two key announcements to make to support women in entrepreneurship," said Majhi adding, "The first is the government's decision to create an industrial park specifically for women, and the second is the opening of a special cell for women at IPICOL."
“To support and nurture women entrepreneurs, our government has decided to establish an Exclusive Industrial Park for Women and a Special Cell in IPICOL to provide assistance and opportunities for women-led businesses. This initiative marks a significant step toward creating a more inclusive and sustainable business ecosystem, where women can thrive and contribute to Odisha's economic growth,” said the CM.
During the event, the Chief Minister participated in the Women’s Business Leaders Round Table, where he engaged with successful women entrepreneurs from both Odisha and beyond. Business leaders from companies such as Ruchi Food Line, Milk Mantra, Luminous Power, Jivada Ventures, and Indulge Private Limited joined the discussion.
Majhi commended the achievements of women entrepreneurs, stating, “Women have consistently shown that they can accomplish more than men. While many people still struggle with basic tasks, our women are piloting fighter jets today.”
He also highlighted the government's support for women entrepreneurs, noting that they receive an additional 10 percent subsidy under the Mukhya Mantri Krishi Udyog Yojana.
“Our government is committed to women’s empowerment and will continue to take steps to support it,” he emphasized.
The Chief Minister further explained that the government had allocated over Rs 75,000 crore in the state budget to promote women's welfare.
He specifically mentioned the Subhadra Yojana, which has enabled many women to start their own small businesses.
“Through initiatives like Subhadra Yojana, we are paving the way for women to become successful entrepreneurs,” he said.
