Odisha to have robust fire services wings with modern logistics: CM Majhi

Bhubaneswar, August 24:Odisha will shortly have robust fire services wing to effectively address fire mishaps and other disasters, said Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday.

Majhi further said, Odisha fire services would be boosted up with 300 additional fire fighters and they would be strengthened with comprehensive and continuous capacity building.

Gracing the 61st passing-out ceremony of the fire fighter trainees, the Chief Minister said, to enhance disaster- mitigation preparedness, the government is introducing new training measures, including the establishment of a simulator device for fire fighters at an expense of Rs 12 crore.

Majhi also revealed plans for a world-class scuba diving training centre near Ramchandi in Konark to provide advanced rescue training at a cost of Rs 10 crore.

Highlighting joint efforts, Majhi said Odisha’s fire fighters will undergo combined training with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) recently, to empower their skills and confidence-level.
