​​​​​​​Narla, Sept 22: In a tragic incident reported from Narla area of Odisha’s Kalahandi district, at least three members of a family were killed in a road mishap on Monday while another is left battling for life.

The deceased have been identified as residents of Terlo village.

As per reports, one Budha Barik from Terlo village was traveling with his son Arab, daughter, and wife on a motorcycle from the Narla side when a pickup van collided with them near Deheli under Narla police limits.

As a result, Budha and his son Arab died instantly, while his wife and daughter suffered critical injuries.

They were immediately rushed to the Narla Community Health Centre (CHC), where the girl later succumbed to her injuries. As the woman’s condition worsened, she was transferred to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).

In protest, family members of the victims, along with locals, staged a road blockade on the state highway connecting Bhawanipatna and M. Rampur, placing the bodies on the road. They demanded fair compensation for the grieving family.

Upon getting the information, police arrived at the spot and pacified the agitators. The cops also seized the bodies of the deceased persons and sent them for post-mortem.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
