Bhubaneswar, Feb 21: The retail prices of onion in Odisha markets have touched Rs 60 per kilogram.

The skyrocketing price of onion in the markets is a new concern for customers. The retail price of onion reached Rs 60 per kilo in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.

While the rural markets sale them for Rs 62-65 per kilogram. The price of onion surged high by Rs 10 as against the price in the second week of February.

During February 2020, onion price per kilogram was between Rs 25 and 30.

The wholesale vendors and stockist of Malgodam in Cuttack and Kuberapuri in Bhubaneswar stated that sudden rise in onion price is situational.

Continuous rainfall in Maharashtra’s Nasik area is the prime cause for rise of onion price.
