Balasore, Apr 23: In a tragic incident, a seven-year-old boy was crushed to death after a tractor ran over him in Khaira block of Odisha’s Balasore district on Wednesday.
The deceased kid has been identified as Satyajit Barik (7), son of Ajay Barik and the incident has been reported from Jalang village under Khaira block.
As per reports, Satyajit was playing near his house when a soil-laden tractor ran over him, leading to his death on the spot.
Following the mishap, the tractor driver tried to flee from the scene. However, some local residents followed and later intercepted it. Thereafter, they severely thrashed the driver and alerted the police.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the spot and detained the driver. The cops also seized the kid’s body and sent it for post-mortem.
A pal of gloom descended over the village following the tragic mishap.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
