Bhubaneswar, Mar 16: Odisha has sought one examination centre in each district for National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2021 is scheduled to be held on August 1.

Additional Chief Secretary of Health department PK Mohaptra has written to the National Testing Agency (NTA) seeking one examination centre in each district in view of Covid-19 pandemic.

There is proposal to conduct the exam at seven centres in Odisha ie- Angul Balasore, Berhampur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Rourkela and Sambalpur.

“ Odisha has got vast tribal pockets having geographically inaccessible areas and far away from the urban centres of the state for which the students of this state may be deprived of appearing the NEET  as they will have to move long distance for appearing this test In view of Covid-19 Pandemic, it will highly unsafe for the students to visit the few examination centres physically to appear the test Further due to the frequent lockdown/ shut down imposed by different districts administrations the transportation system is very often disrupted making the movement of the student’s further worse,” read the letter.
