“All teachers and students will be instructed to follow COVID-19 safety guidelines. Health and safety remain our top priority,” stated the Minister.

According to the new guidelines, students displaying mild symptoms such as cough or cold will be required to wear masks on school premises. Those showing more serious symptoms will be advised to stay at home and isolate. Additionally, schools have been directed to adhere strictly to the protocols issued by the Health Department.

Regular monitoring of students for symptoms, maintaining hygiene standards, and encouraging safe practices will be key components of the renewed safety plan. The state government has also instructed all District Education Officers (DEOs), school principals, and teaching staff to ensure full compliance with these measures.

The move comes amid growing concerns over the potential spread of the virus in educational settings, particularly affecting children. The government emphasises that these precautions are part of its broader effort to prevent any possible outbreak in schools while ensuring that learning continues safely.

With this announcement, Odisha joins a growing list of states taking pre-emptive steps to manage the health of students as academic activities resume.
