Bhubaneswar, Nov 15: Nearly after 18 months, the schools for class VI and VII students reopened from today across the state.

The classes started at 9.30 a.m. and will continue till 1 p.m.

School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash informed that all the Covid-19 protocols such as social distancing, wearing face masks and frequent usage of hand sanitizers would be strictly followed in the school premises.

The students were seemed to be very excited to return to schools nearly after 1.5 years.

“Today I am very happy to come back to my school. Though we have attended classes via online mode, we can’t meet our friends on a regular basis. Online education sometimes seems very difficult due to internet issues. Now the physical classes have resumed and finally, I can meet all my friends”, said a class VII student of Bhubaneswar Unit 8 High school.

The school authorities have also adhered to all the Covid-19 protocols. School premises were sanitized and usage of hand sanitizers and masks have been made mandatory in the school.

“Before the opening of the school, we sanitized all the classrooms. Wearing of masks and frequent use of hand sanitizers have been made mandatory for all the students. Besides, the students have to take permission from their parents before attending classes. Since the physical classes in school have not been made compulsory, online classes will simultaneously be held along with the classroom teaching”, said a teacher of Bhubaneswar Unit 8 High school.

Worth mentioning, except for standard I to V, physical classes for all other students have been resumed across the state.

Minister Samir Ranjan Dash had earlier informed that the classes for class I to V students may resume by the New Year.

“It is expected that by New Year 2022, all the schools would have been reopened for kids,” said Dash.
