Odisha: Revenue generated from fancy registration numbers almost doubles in last 6 months

Bhubaneswar, April 3: Odisha has earned Rs 11.24 crore from fancy and preferred vehicle registration number in the first 6 months from October 2020 to 31st march 2021. During the same period of last financial year the earning was Rs 6 crores. Under 5T policy of the state government, the State Transport Authority (STA) had introduced dealer point automation from October 6 last year. Odisha was the first state in the country to introduce paperless and contact less vehicle registration by introducing document upload through digital signature of the dealer. From Oct 2020 to March 2021, the revenue from auction of fancy numbers is Rs 1.18 crores whereas the income from advance booking of numbers is Rs 10.06 crore. After the introduction of auto assignment of registration number as many as 11543 owners have opted for booking their choice number which was only 5562 during the same period of last financial year.  RTO Bhubaneswar-I collected the highest revenue Rs.2.81 crore followed by RTO Cuttack (Rs 1.23 crorew). During the auction process, the fancy number ODO2XX 0001 fetched the highest price of Rs 1.75 lakh.
