Odisha received Rs 13,080 cr foreign exchange from marine goods in last 5 years

Bhubaneswar, Mar 25: Marine goods added around Rs 13,080 crore to the state exchequer during the last five years. Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Arun Kumar Sahu said that Odisha has earned a sizable amount of foreign exchange out of exporting marine goods during the last five years. Almost 2,59,951 metric tonne of seafood like saline fish, prawn and fish products fetched Rs 13,080 crore between 2015 and 2020. The annual achievement for 2015-16 is recorded to be Rs 1,791 crore against 35,612 metric tons of marine products. While the turnover in the fiscal years 2016-17 and 2017-18 were Rs 2204.78 crore and Rs 2871.61 crore respectively. Similarly, the state treasury bagged Rs 2969.42 crore in 2018-19 and Rs 3243.29 crore during 2019-20 from marine exports, said Sahu.
