Bhubaneswar, Jan 18: As on January 17 Odisha has procured 35.356 lakh matric tons of paddy from farmers, 7 lakh tons more than last year. Out of the procurements carried in different PACS, Lamps and Self Help Group (SHG) unit centres throughout the state, Bargarh has attained the all time high procurement about 6 ,65,048 matric tons of quality paddy. This is more than 13 percent of the previous year’s procurement. Balangir has contributed 2.84 lakh tons of paddy to the state granary. It is 40 percent higher than previous year. Similarly, Kalahandi farmers have fetched 4.649 lakh matric tons of paddy to the PACs and Koraput has added 2.112 lakhs paddy to it. In Nuapada, PACs have collected almost 1.209 lakh matric tons of paddy. Sambalpur has achieved record quantity of paddy to the bulk of 3.372 lakh matric tons while Subarnpur, Sundargarh and Malkanagiri have shared 2.814, 1.290, 1.382 tons of paddy to the state granary respectively.
