Odisha police to attach 96.5 lakh bank savings of two ganja peddlers

Jeypore , Mar 11: Koraput police has kept sharp eyes on the illegal assets of ganja peddlers. On its first step, Jeypore police is going to attach around 96.5 lakh bank savings of Sudarshan Panigrahi and Gopinath Nirika those got nabbed red-handed on August 2020. Both allegedly used to smuggle ganja to Bihar deliberately since long. In order to check the illegal smuggling, Koraput police sought to attach the ill got movable and immovable properties of the peddlers. Accordingly, Jeypore Sadar police applied at the end of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Competent Authority (NDPSCA), Kolkata for it. On March 4, NDPSCA tendered permission to attach the property of the two accused. However, in the first phase of the execution, an amount of Rs 96.5 lakh bank savings of the two accused will be attached. This amount includes Rs. 67.69 lakh of Gopinath and Rs 21.80 lakh of Sudarshan. Apart from it, the seized amount worth Rs 3.1 lakh will be attached, said SDPO Abhisek Behera.
