Odisha Police rescues 894 missing children in week-long special drive

Bhubaneswar, Jan 27: Odisha Police rescued as many as 894 missing children in a week long special drive. The special drive was launched on January 18 against the backdrop of the disappearance and murder of a five-year-old girl in Nayagarh district. Police said that the rescued children included 800 girls. During the special drive, Kendrapara district rescued 127 children whereas Mayurbhanj rescued 111 and Balasore 88. DGP Abhay has appreciated the good work done by different district police. Earlier the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data has placed Odisha at the bottom as far as the recovery percentage of the missing children in the country is concerned. As per the report the recovery rate of the missing children in Odisha was 27.1% in 2019, the lowest in the country. The NCRB data has also said that as many as 5,503 children remained untraced in the state till 2019.
