
Bhubaneswar, September 1: In a massive crackdown on human trafficking and missing persons cases, the Crime Against Women and Children Wing of Odisha Police has rescued 2,417 individuals during a special state-wide drive, Operation Anweshan, conducted from August 18 to 22, 2025.
The rescued include 358 children—33 boys and 325 girls—and 2,059 women from various districts. According to official figures, Puri topped the list with 45 children and 504 women traced, followed by Bhadrak with 37 children and 318 women, and Cuttack with 21 children and 304 women.
This latest effort is part of an ongoing campaign by Odisha Police to curb human trafficking and bring back missing persons. Similar rescue operations were previously carried out in February, April, and May this year, underscoring the state police’s sustained focus on protecting vulnerable sections of society.
